What an incredible weekend we’ve just experienced at the 2025 Met West Zone Championships. As a club, we couldn’t be prouder of what our athletes, families, and community achieved together.
This year, we had 132 of our athletes step out to compete. Seeing so many of our Ponds kids out there, giving their best, supporting each other, and wearing our colours with pride reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
89 of our athletes qualified for Regionals by placing in the top 4. That’s an achievement that speaks to the dedication of our athletes across all age groups. Whether it was a first-time competitor or a seasoned athlete chasing a PB, every child contributed to what became one of our strongest Zone weekends ever.
Celebrating Our Under 7 Athletes
Our Under 7s may not progress to Regionals, but that doesn’t make their achievements any less remarkable. Their determination, enthusiasm, and courage over the weekend truly embodied what Little Athletics is all about.
We want to give a special shoutout to the following U7 athletes for their outstanding results:
-
MadisonCooke– 3rd Discus
-
Isabella Day – 2nd 200m
-
Denver De Roo – 2nd 200m
-
Adem Eggu – 1st 100m, 2nd 50m, 1st 70m, 3rd Long Jump
-
Rose Odede – 2nd Shot Put
-
Riaan Parmar – 2nd 200m
-
Scarlett Wenban – 2nd 70m
We are extremely proud of this group of athletes. Their performances were inspiring, and the joy they brought to the weekend reminded us all of the pure fun and foundation of our sport.
Records That Tell a Bigger Story
We also witnessed some extraordinary performances:
-
6 new Zone Records set by 4 phenomenal athletes
-
A number of additional Zone records surpassed but not officially taken due to finishing positions
-
A huge 65 new TPLAC Club Records rewritten throughout the competition
To us, these numbers mean more than statistics. They represent growth, belief, and hard work. They show that our athletes are pushing boundaries & not just beating competitors, but surpassing who they were last season, last month, or even last week. That’s the heart of little athletics.
To Our Volunteers — We See You and We Thank You
We also want to say a massive thank you to our parents and guardians. These events simply cannot run without the support of volunteers, and once again, our Ponds families showed exactly what community looks like.
From helping on field sites to managing warm-ups and cheering on the sidelines, you made the weekend possible. We are so proud to see our families step up, support each other, and create an environment where our young athletes feel encouraged, safe, and excited to compete.
Together, We Move Forward
This Zone weekend wasn’t just a competition — it was a celebration of who we are as a club.
A community that shows up.
A club that lifts each other.
A place where every athlete has someone cheering for them.
Now, as we head towards Regionals, we carry this momentum with pride.
Well done, TPLAC. What a weekend.
